For too long Australian Brumbies have had a death notice on their heads.

We need to have protection in the form of legislation in 'The Victorian Brumby Heritage Act'.

Horses on Welfare is what Brumbies will become if we allow them to be removed any longer.

I oppose the current plans by the Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change Lily D’ Ambrosio, Parks Victoria , Yorta Yorta Aboriginal Corporation, Minister for Energy and Environment NSW - Matt Kean, Queensland - Meaghan Scanlon, Western Australia - Stephen Dawson, South Australia - David Spears and Northern Territory - Eva Lawler to shoot or send to slaughter any Brumby.

Parks Victoria (PV) has been caught out grossly overstating cultural and environmental impacts in eight National Park (NP) sites in the Grampians – Herald Sun Jan 31st 2020. Freedom of Information has revealed that PV CEO Mathew Jackson had sent a series of photos to Minister D’ Ambrosio allegedly depicting impacts of rock climbers. Sane Grampians Climbing Org. revealed that only one photo showed some minor damage but failed to meet any serious legal test. The remainder of the photos revealed the white marks on the rockface as either climbing chalk or bird excrement – NOT DAMAGE.

Minister D’ Ambrosio I do not have the confidence in PV chief Conservation Scientist Dr Mark Norman if he is unable to differentiate between bird droppings and climbers chalk. This same scientist claims that Brumbies are the biggest threat to NP when conflicting reports state that invasive weeds are the number one threat to the health of our parks.

Dr Mark Norman also wishes to stretch the truth with the exclusion plots created in NP’s that fail to prove that damage is caused exclusively by Brumbies when in fact all species are fenced out – hardly robust believable science.

Dr. Mark Norman presented a slide-show at the Victorian Auditor General’s Office (VAGO) ‘Meeting Obligations to Protect Ramsar Wetlands’, the major number one damage was created by unseasonable environmental flooding – NOT THE BRUMBIES.

I ask that you listen to the 153,000 plus people that have signed a rigorous Change Org Petition calling for the survival of Wild- Living Brumbies. Lonergan Research found that 88% of Victorians would support efforts to preserve mobs of Brumbies living in the wild. 84% of Victorians support further research into impacts caused by weather extremes, other wild animals and humans. A greater investment in research and technologies and a combination of methods mentioned in Reserve Design that provide other options must be researched and implemented other than what is on the table now – KILLING.

I demand the Ministers abandon plans to remove ALL Brumbies from the Bogong High Plains, Eastern Alps,Barmah National Park and all other areas where brumbies are being targeted . Instead manage sustainable populations through community advisory groups and consultations with local community members.

I ask that the Government to support a ‘Victorian Heritage Brumby Act’ that recognises the historical, cultural and social values of Heritage Brumbies that have been living in the Victorian wild for some 200 years.
